Since 2007, the 35 Comfort Shawl and Baby Cap Ministries members have knitted over 300 shawls and lap blankets for people who are grieving, who have had chemo, surgery, or other serious illnesses, or who just need comfort. They also knitted 550 baby caps and sent the caps to Africa.

Quilts for Comfort is a local organization, which assembles quilts for babies at risk and young children in area hospitals, and adults who are receiving cancer treatments and dialysis at Christiana Hospital. Limestone hosts Quilts for Comfort once a year.

In November and December, each year, Limestone members are invited to “pluck the turkey”. Each “feather” lists items to be brought in, such as frozen pumpkin pies, cranberry sauce, canned vegetables. The items are sorted and packed in boxes (Holiday Food Baskets) to be given to needy families in the area.

Limestone's Board of Deacons oversees the Food Closet. The congregation donates food and cash to the Food Closet.

When a state agency or other authorized organization makes food request referrals, the closet staff prepares bags of food and the church office staff distributes the bags when people come in with referrals.

Family Promise of Northern Delaware logo

Family Promise® provides shelter to homeless children and families. They do this through a network of congregations that host these families directly in their houses of worship, staffed by caring volunteers who have put their faith into action. Limestone hosts families for a week, twice a year.

Stephen Ministries logo

Stephen Ministers are trained lay persons who give long term, one-on-one confidential support, care, comfort and encouragement to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, and relocated and others facing a crisis or life challenge.

Limestone members have been very active on Levite Sundays and Church Clean-up Days. The Levites were the keepers of the temple in the Bible. These days, we put on our “Levis” and take care of our church and grounds with the extra care and attention it sometimes needs.
