Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts

The goodness of a person and of the society he or she lives in often comes down to very simple things and words found in the Scout Law. Every society depends on trust and loyalty, on courtesy and kindness, on bravery and reverence. These are the values of Scouting, and these are the values of Americans.-President George W. Bush

Cub Scout Pack 660 is for boys in 1st grade through 5th grade, or age 7 through 10. The Pack meets every Thursday during the school year from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Cub Scouts are invited to arrive as early as 6:30 for play time in the gym. A parent or guardian is required to stay with Cub Scouts during the meetings and on outings.

In addition to the fun-filled and action-packed meeting, Cub Scouts get to go on cool adventures such as camping out on a real battleship, competing in the Pinewood Derby, and our annual “Family Camp Out at the Beach” in May. About once a month, Cub Scouts will have the opportunity to participate in a “Go See It” which may be a trip to the local fire station, radio station, a museum, a sporting event.

Most importantly, Cub Scouts will learn to live by the Scout Oath and Law. They will learn how to work as a team, how to strive for goals, and how to treat others with respect. Please CLICK HERE to visit for more information. If you are interested in providing your son with the “Promise of Scouting” please stop by on any Thursday night and check it out for yourself!

Boy Scout Troop 660 is for boys 11 through 18. (Boys who have earned their “Arrow of Light” or completed 5th grade may join at age 10). The Troop meets every Thursday all year long. Our meetings begin at 7:00pm and end at 8:00pm, but boys are invited to play in the gym until 8:30. As the parent of a Boy Scout, you are not required to stay for the meeting, but you are certainly welcome! One of the great things about Scouting is that it is a family activity. Instead of sitting in the bleachers watching, you can be in the canoe WITH your son!

Troop 660 Scouts go on a weekend camp out every month from September through June. Each campout has a different itinerary or theme, such as: Backpacking, Ziplining, Black Powder Rifle shooting, Klondike Derby, Canoeing, Rock Climbing, wilderness survival, etc. etc. Each event is planned and led by a Scout with the assistance of a mentor. Over the Summer, we have a week-long “High Adventure” and we spend a week at Summer Camp.

A Boy Scout troop is “boy-led, adult facilitated.” This means that it is the boys, not the adults who decide where we go and what we do. They plan and execute the events with the guidance of an adult mentor. This helps boys learn valuable skills such as planning, leading, and organizing. They also learn how to adjust their plans when things don’t work out exactly as planned! Please CLICK HERE to visit for more information. Please stop by any Thursday night and see if Scouting is right for your son!

Troop 660 and Pack 660 are two separate programs, each with their own leadership team, calendar of events, and goals. Yet the two groups work together and support each other. The Boy Scouts act as mentors and coaches for the Cub Scouts.
